This small club was started for our daughters and their friends to have a place to play that would be affordable and beneficial in every way. Since then it has grown to include many girls from many different backgrounds. The common denominator between all our girls is basketball. The sport of basketball has given us all so much that we are determined to continue this mission for as long as it seems worthwhile to do so.
ZION: Many people ask us what Zion means and why we are called Zion. To dispel any myths.... no, it is not a "religious" reference! Apparently Zion is a prominent theme in the LDS religion. Although we do have many wonderful LDS families on our team it is not why we are called Zion. Though it may have similar meanings. Zion simply, or perhaps deeply, represents a higher mission. We use basketball as a vessel to teach these young girls, and often parents, life's important lessons. Zion is many things. I often say that to me it is more Reggae than Religion but.... I think in the grand scheme of things whether it be basketball, music or religion.... Zion is a place to strive for. Every time we enter the gym we are reaching for greatness. Or at the very minimum to come one step closer to greatness, whatever that may mean for each individual player.
How it works with our club:
Summer, September and October workouts are considered optional due to all the other sports during this month. That being said we will have scrimmages in October so please try to make it when you can.
Dues are split evenly throughout the club. We estimate 2016 dues to be $60 per month. Please pay monthly dues on time or let us know if you need more time. If you don't pay, it comes out of our pocket.
Tournaments will start in late November. They are weekends and usually in Nampa. These tournaments are "optional" but kids are expected to play unless they have a conflict. We pay by the tournament. Typical tournament fees are $20-$30 per player. We will play 6-8 most likely throughout the season.
Season lasts from November to February. There is no "set date" yet to end the season. It depends on the flow and feeling of each season and the interest level of the families. 5th graders may stop in January to play AAU.
Teams: We will have ONE team this season. This team will be divided into two groups. There will be one 4th grade team and one 5th grade teams. 4th grade players may play up.
Travel: We most likely stay primarily in the area but will try to have at least one or two out of town tournaments this year.
Dues are due at the beginning of each month. Prompt payment is appreciated.
The Zion Basketball Club was formed in 2014. Our goal when we started was to be the premier 4rd grade girl's basketball club in the Treasure Valley. This terminoligy has since changed to..... be the right spot for each girl to grow as players and people. If this team is not for you, that is fine, there are many great clubs in the Treasure Valley. As of now this website is "under construction" and is intended only to direct you towards our club. If you found us in search of an option for your daughter then you have come to the right place. Please contact us today to learn more about us.
Our first Zion incoming 3rd grade team was formed in September of 2014. They were selected to be a part of this team each individually because of their incredible work ethic and amazing personalities. They are a wildly talented group but more important they are wonderful young girls to be around. To learn more about us or if you would like to join our group contact us for more information!
